The Hills of Caledonia by John David Coupland

Chapter 19 of the book Songs by JDC

for whatever a classic folk song is asked to do, this folk song does the job exactly. a lilting sing-song lyric that comes close but stays away from cliche economical and gently understated. innocent and wise at the same time. poignant and joyful. nice one.

Hi. Yes, I explain it in the description. It's meant to be a commercial jingle for the soon to be released Elio three-wheel car. The licorice, marshmallow, etc., comes from their names for the colors available. Thank you for the review. I'm glad you enjoyed the little jingle.

Hey, Ho, Elio by Scott Harvey

don't know what to say. it's in a place all by itself. is it advertisement. or simply a novel little ditty? Funny, I looked forward to the quick and perfectly placed 'honk honk' and those vibes, like silly bones clacking. it's just plain campy weird in a way . . . sweetly odd and strangely irresistible.

Wow! Thank you so very much for such a fantastic review and rating. I must say I'm very pleased with the way this piece is doing, and it does my heart good I can tell you.

With the warmest of wishes...?

Romance Of The Ocean by Kerri Powles

very cinematic and emotional! very lovely indeed. it is a big sound that DOES seem suited to a grand theme like the ocean. (rather than a quiet country lane for eg!)

I Don't Know What To Do by dhentosh

this is a desperate place to be no doubt! - for the VOCAL comp. it doesn't get my vote - but overall effect? very impressive! and sad, man! it feels like a piece from say WHO's rock opera Tommy, the character reaching the apex of his crisis. huzzah!

Kerri Powles
I liked your frank and honest review, I found it refreshing. This, it has to be said is not my usual genre, and singing is definitely not usually my thing either, so to have a 5 is fantastic in my book and I thank you very much for it.

You Are The One by Kerri Powles

the lush and lovely melody and chording especially at intro was simply astounding and it set me up for a powerful piece of whatever-would-come-next! . . . unfortunately I found the actual poetry far to cliche for my taste.
It used too many standard mechanisms and metaphors. I felt cheated!
I've heard all of them before. So have you. But it has so much potential! If you could only achieve the simple power of the instrumentation in your lyric it would be goosebump stuff right the way thru. the words should have as much contemporary fresh impact as the melody does! Nice, tho.

Sometimes best squeaks are good if it would just dampened a little. Otherwise the sound sounded great.

City Of Sin - Halo by freezerbeef

I liked it very much to sound in the pad and in the harmonizing. However on the guitar I found the sliding up towards the frets up and down was noisy and could be eliminated under the mixing board by turning down the high-end. Going back to an equalizer and shopping out the high-end that way. Otherwise and that I thought it was a perfect song good lyrics, needs to work, on the hook great lyrics. Great job at mixing to.

G'day Bob. Another great track, recorded professionally and tastefully. All that vocal work is outstanding an' I can appreciate the hard work involved in arranging/recording it. A lot of great lyrical stuff too. Good work, young man (maybe us old guys still have some good stuff left in us LOL)

Scott Harvey
I'm not sure whether they want a solo taken from a song (like a guitar solo) or a solo instrument. It doesn't matter. The main thing is that I liked what you created very much. What I was saying was that it didn't have a typical verse/chorus/bridge structure.

Middlemarch by freezerbeef

Not a song in the traditional sense - more of a mood piece. I liked it a lot. The guitar was well-played and well-recorded. Excellent.

Scott Harvey
What I meant was, it didn't seem to have a verse, chorus, bridge, etc., like a typical song. I didn't mean it as a negative at all. I thought the song was great.
