Kerri,

Sorry to see you leave, but totally understand. And sorry about your arthritis as well.

I will stay in tuch with you from time to time and let you know what is happening here, if anything. And more so to share music.

I have good news and bad news as far as my review on this.

First, the good news.I have zero Celtic but my wife, being of Irish origins, loves Celtic music...this is no exception.

I love the "flute" on this...subtle but reminds me of Titanic. Your music is always very good and this certainly ranks up there. You have many songs and I know I have not heard them all. But this is likely in my top 3 of your songs.

Now for the bad news.

I am out of 6's to award and so it is with much sadness that I must give you a 5. Still I know you are in no shortage of 6's!!! I am so jealous.

One thing that does annoy me about reviews on this site is that it very clear that a 6 is exceptional, 5 excellent, 4 Good and so forth.

And yet it appears the majority of reviewers give out 5's like candy which dilutes the value of a 5 and even a 6. In reality there are far more 4's deserved than 5's. That's not to say when a reviewer awards a low mark that he/she should be mean spirited about it. They should be offered honesty and suggestions on how to improve.

But when I listen to your music for example, much of your work should get 7's or 8's. A 5 should only be awarded when there are no real changes needed.

Sorry for venting, but I tire of boiler plate reviews that a couple on this site give over and over and over. I would rather that they simply do not waste any one's time.

Meanwhile, I will enjoy an extremely talented artist like yourself who posts some of the very best music on this site.

Thanks!

Kerri,

Well as you can see I am much too outspoken when it comes to opinions.

But I am being very honest about your ability to play but as much if not more about your ability to come up with original compositions. Many people can play well, but many, many fewer who can create something out of nothing that is worth listening to.

Yes, I will check out the song you reference.

It shows you are still a premier artist. Does that mean you decided to renew your membership, or did it not yet come up for renewal?

Either way, I am so glad you still check on the site periodically.

I have not posted anything in a while. I am getting arthritis very badly in my fingers. I already had nerve damage and surgery that did not really help much. But it is getting progressively harder and harder to play. My wife wants me to see another surgeon for second opinion. I may do that; otherwise, I may have to stop playing totally. I can no longer play 12 string and that was one of my favorite instruments.

But if so, I will just check out your music.

Take care,

Jim

Only Echoes Remain (With Vocals) 4 by threshold

Having listened to the first rendition of this with no vocals and now this, my personal preference is this. The vocals certainly add another dimension for me, and lifts it even further. If anything I would have increased volume on the vocals, as hard to hear the words clearly enough, especially when the beat increases volume about a quarter of the way in, the vocals were completely drowned. As for Mastering, chord progression etc (for me anyway) you've pretty much got this nailed!!

When I toured several years ago this is some of what we played. Every so often I record something like this but I have mostly mellowed and left this behind. Also, my wife is no fan of real hard rock and so....
But it is fun to just let go and bring back the past once in a while!
Thanks for the awesome review!

At War With The World by Jimi Seven

Wow! This is different Jimi, and brilliant. This is fabulous hard rock at it's best I would say. Great title too. Although I know very little when it comes to this genre, I know what I like, and I like what I hear. Bravo Jimi!!!

im really glad to hear you liked my composition and mastering, i agree the vocals could be louder, and respect your opinion and humbled by it in way that makes me reflect deeper into the filtering and compression as well as harmonization being displayed by vocals, it could instantly clear the foundation for increased output abd punch the song, good point and will keep this mind, thank you for your honesty, and really appreciate your review

A Way of Life by Wallace

This fits the title description perfectly. I can envisage walking amongst the borders of perfectly manicured lawns, taking in the heady scent of Summers blooming flowers, and feeling the warmth of the sun upon my skin. This would make an excellent intro to a play/film with the opening scene being a picturesque scene of country gardens and ancestral estates. Very well done as always Wallace.

Not sure if I replied...but yes, all me except the sax. This was the fourth song I had ever written, which was last year....so hopefully they'll get better!

Thanks again for your great review!

Rock'n Roll Star

Another really catchy song Jim. Your lyrics are great, as are all your instrumentals. Do you play all the instruments yourself? If so you're a great musician!

I asked Paul McCartney if I could join the band....but I was born much too late; he said otherwise, I could be the 5th Beatle! LOL I wish, they are in my heart and soul!
Thanks!

Maybe Next Time

I always know where to come when I want a pick me up. Great upbeat song. I know I've mentioned it before but the Beatles would have loved you in their group I recon. Sadly the music of today just doesn't do it for me the way the music of the 60's does. But you mange to recreate that wonderful 60's feel and you never fail to deliver!

Thanks also for the heads-up on membership renewal, and contests. I'll try to keep it in mind.

Very much liked this piece. A great deal of imaginaiton has gone into this work I can tell. I don't know if you are familiar with the Composer Copland, but this piece is very reminicent of the style of Copland. This should do well in the Contest I feel.
